Did you work before your internship?
Yes. I was an Economics tutor for 6 months, and did basic data analysis work for two summers. I did not put them on my resume because I did not think they were as relevant as my projects.
What did you do during covid?
I spent my time learning new technologies and techniques. Additionally, I reviewed old coursework to stay sharp. I also continued Ubering full time to pay the bills after the first couple of months because unemployment was not enough.
Why didn’t you get a job during this past year?
Well I graduated into a recession and global pandemic, and noticed a lot of instability in the job market. I didn’t want to get a job only to lose it and have to start over a couple months later. So I decide to take the time to improve myself as a candidate and wait until the market had stabilized.
Describe a time you were a leader?
My way of leading is to lead by example. Rather than try to dictate how other people in my team or group should work I try to do my work well and set the standard for what others should achieve. This is exemplified in my Data Science course project. I came into our first meeting with hours of research and an idea of what we could do. Everyone else saw the work that I had put in and returned in the next meeting with work of their own
Why did you leave your internship?
My position was removed due to Covid downsizing
