Unbalanced Forces Flashcards
Net force
total amount of force on an object
~Calculated by adding the forces acting in the same direction and subtracting forces acting in the opposite direction
What happens when an object is subjected to a net force?
The object will experience an acceleration, it’s speed will continuously increase
What happens if the net force on an object of zero?
The forces are balanced and the object stays still or in constant motion.
What happens if the net forces on an object is not zero?
The forces are unbalanced and the object’s motion will change
How do you calculate speed?
Speed= Distance divided by the time it takes the object to travel that distance. (s=d/t)
Velocity
measurement of speed and direction
Distance
measurement from one place to another
Rate
a quantity, amount, or degree of something, measured per unit of something else.
Acceleration
change of an objects speed or direction
