Pelvic
Demonstrated the female uterus and ovaries for ovarian cysts, uterine bleeding, fibroids (benign growth. Indication for the scan may be vaginal bleeding)
Abdomen
Preformed for cancerous lesions, gallstones, abdominal injuries, kidney stones(renal), pancreatitis gallbladder, renal, pancreas ect
Obstetrical (OB)
The fetus is scanned usually around 18-20 weeks for evaluation of anatomy: scan can be done later in pregnancy for various medical reasons.
Biopsies done under ultrasound
FNA (fine needle aspiration) sample of cells or tissue is taken for pathological testing. They may be taken from the thyroid, breast, prostate, liver, ext
Vascular
Dopplers
ARTERIAL-preformed for only specific reasons-transplant kidney
CAROTID-preformed for stroke
VENOUS- demonstrates leg veins for blood clots
Extremities/ Small Parts
These include neck ultrasounds for thyroid gland, soft tissue masses, lymph nodes, let and arm for masses
Echocardiogram
Ultrasound of the heart
