Ulnar Nerve Flashcards
Why ulnar nerve is called musicians nerve?
Because it supplies the Intrinsic muscles of hand
When there is a fracture at the surgical neck of the humerus, what will be damaged?
Axillary nerve and posterior circumflex humeral artery
When there is a mid shaft fracture of the humerus, what will be damaged?
Radial nerve and profunda brachii artery injury
When there is a supracondylar fracture of the humerus, what will be damaged?
Median nerve and the brachial artery
When there is any damage or fracture of the medial epicondyle what will be damaged?
Ulnar nerve and the ulnar collateral artery
Which muscle is responsible for the adduction of the thumb and what is the nerve supply
Adductor pollicis
Ulnar nerve
Froments test is used to test the functionality of which nerve and muscle?
and what is froments sign
Ulnar nerve and adductor pollicis muscle
Froment sign is the compensatory flexion of ip joint of thumb to hold the spoon
What is the common function of the small muscles of hand supplied by ulnar nerve?
Lumbricals (3,4by ulnar nerve)
Dorsal interosseous
Palmar interosseous
Function is flexion of mcp joint and extention of ip joint
PAD DAB?
Palmar interosseous- ADDUCTION of fingers towards the middle finger
So that middle finger has no attachment of palmar interosseous b/c middle finger is already in medial side
Dorsal interosseous- ABDUCTIONS of fingers except thumb and little fingers
Which muscle is responsible for abduction of little and thumb ?
Little finger- abductor digiti minimi
Thumb- abductor pollicis brevis and abductor pollicis longus
First second third and fourth dorsal interosseous ate attached to which fingers respectively ?
First dorsal interosseous: attatched to index finger
2nd and 3rd : to middle finger
4th to : ring finger
ie: from lateral to medial side
