UK stats Flashcards
What proof is there of dis proportionality in the UK?
In 1929 and Feb 1979, Labour got fewer votes but more seats than the Tories.
Further, in 1951, this was inverted.
What was the Tory vote share in 2017 vs Labour 1997 and why is this important?
2017 Tory = 42.4%, 317 seats
1997 Labour = 43.2%, 418 seats
This is important because it shows how vote share does not always equate to a proportional amount of seats. Bad!!, 20 years apart and there has been no change to the system but why. Discuss.
