The Government
CABINET
PM & senior ministers (most lead a gov. dep.).
MINISTER
MP or member of HOL appointed to a position in the gov.
>usually exercising specific responsibilities in a department
ROYAL PREROGATIVE
Set of powers & privileges belonging to the monarch BUT normally exercised by the PM or Cabinet
>e.g. granting of honours or of legal pardons
SECONDARY LEGISLATION
Powers given to the Exec. by Parl. to make changes to the law within certain specific rules
INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY
Ministers responsible for their personal conduct
COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY
Ministers must support Cabinet decisions or leave the Executive
PRESIDENTIAL GOVERNMENT
Exec. dominated by 1 individual
