Notice 117, under the Taxation (Cross-Border) Act 2018, sets out the criteria that an economic operator must meet before being granted AEO status. These are:
Compliance, Control of operation, Financial Solvency.
For AEOC - Practical Competence or qualifications
For AEOS - Security and Safety Standards
To apply for the Authorised Economic Operator status in Great Britain businesses must:
be a legal entity
be established in Great Britain or Northern Ireland for NI Business
be actively involved in customs operations and international trade
have an EORI number starting with GB or XI
NI AEO authorisations will continue to be recognised in the EU.
