UH-60A/L Ch9 FRC Chg 1 Flashcards
SINGLE-ENGINE FAILURE
Immediate Actions
- Achieve safe single engine AS (if possible)
- External cargo/stores - Jettison (if required)
- LASAPOSSIBLE - if continued flight is not possible
- LASAPRACTICABLE - if continued flight is possible
FIRES: APU/ELECTRICAL/ENGINE
Immediate Actions
IF ENG EMER OFF Handle/APU fire T-handle illuminates in flight:
- Achieve safe single engine airspeed(if possible)
- ENG POWER CONT lever - OFF
- ENG EMER OFF handle/APU fire T-handle - Pull (as appropriate)
-FIRE EXTGH switch - MAIN/RESERVE as required
If an electrical fire is present:
- BATT and GENERATOR switches - OFF
- LASAPOSSIBLE
ENGINE CONTROL MALFUNCTION - (DEC/EDECU) LOW SIDE FAILURE
Immediate Actions
- If an engine control unit fails to the low side and the other engine is unable to provide sufficient torque, % RPM R will decrease. If % RPM R continues to decrease and single engine flight is not possible:
- ENG POWER CONT lever (low % TRQ/TGT engine) - LOCKOUT
(Maintain % TRQ approximately 10% below the other engine)
- LASAPRACTICABLE
STABILATOR UNCOMMANDED NOSE DOWN PITCH ATTITUDE CHANGE
Immediate Actions
If an uncommanded nose down pitch attitude occurs:
- Cyclic mounted stabilator slew-up switch - Adjust (as required to arrest nose down pitch rate)
-LASAPRACTICABLE
FLIGHT CONTROL/ROTOR SYSTEM VIBRATIONS OR MALFUNCTIONS ON GROUND
Immediate Actions
- ENG POWER CONT levers - OFF
- ENG FUEL SYS selectors - OFF
- FUEL BOOST PUMP switches - OFF
FLIGHT CONTROL/ROTOR SYSTEM VIBRATIONS OR MALFUNCTIONS IN FLIGHT
LASAPOSSIBLE
LIGHTNING STRIKE
Immediate Actions
- ENG POWET CONT levers - Adjust (as required to control engine % RPM and % RPM R)
- LASAPOSSIBLE
MAIN TRANSMISSION FAILURE
LASAPOSSIBLE
LOSS OF TAIL ROTOR CONTROL
Immediate Actions
If during cruise flight a right yaw becomes uncontrollable:
- AUTOROTATE - Maintain airspeed at or above 80 KIAS
- ENG POWER CONT LEVERS - OFF (during deceleration when intended point of landing is assured)
If at low airspeed or hover a right yaw becomes uncontrollable:
- Collective - Reduce
- ENG POWER CONT levers - OFF (5 to 10 feet above touchdown)
If an uncontrolled left yaw develops during low airspeed or hover:
- ENG POWER CONT levers - Retard
- Collective - Increase (% RPM R will decrease)
- ENG POWER CONT levers - OFF (5 to 10 feet above touchdown)
- Collective - Adjust for landing
FUEL FLTR BYPASS #1 AND #2
LASAPOSSIBLE
FUEL PRESS #1 AND #2
LASAPOSSIBLE
HYD PUMP #1 AND #2
LASAPOSSIBLE (Restrict control movements to moderate rate)
HYDRAULIC PUMP NO BACK-UP PUMP #1
- BACK-UP HYD PUMP switch - ON
- LASAPRACTICABLE - If BACK-UP PUMP ON advisory light appears
- LASAPOSSIBLE - If BACK-UP PUMP ON advisory light still does not appear.
Limited control of the T/R is achieved through the yaw boost servo & mechanical linkage due to #1 HYD PUMP and BU PUMP being inop leaving both stages of the T/R unpressurized.
Roll on landing at 40 KIAS or above, NO aerodynamic braking
TAIL RTR SERVO #1 AND BACK-UP PUMP ON DOES NOT APPEAR
Immediate Actions
- TAIL SERVO switch - BACK-UP
Limited T/R control due to the #1 hyd pump and BU pump inop causing both stages of the T/R servo to be unpressurized. The yaw boost servo is still pressurized and the mechanical control system is intact.
Roll on at 40 KIAS or above with no aerodynamic braking.
