Article 15
Commanding Officer’s Non-Judicial Punishment-
Commanding officers use this article to enforce discipline for minor offenses and promote positive behavioral changes without the stigma of a court-martial. This article authorizes a commanding officer to impose sanctions, such as liberty (authorized absence) restriction, extra duties, loss of rank, pay, and allowances upon a guilty service member. The accused can refuse this proceeding and insist on a court-martial.
Article 31
Rights of the Accused-
This article states the legal rights of a marine who has been accused of a crime. They are quite similar to the civilian equivalents. The most prominent is the protection against self-incrimination.
Article 86
Unauthorized Absence-
This article prohibits a servicemember from leaving their appointed place of duty or failing to report an assignment. You may be more familiar with the term AWOL; In the Marines it is called UA. Violation is punishable by a court-martial.
Article 89
Disrespect Towards a Superior Commissioned Officer-
This article prohibits disrespectful behavior directed at any officer. Remember: disrespect is disrespect; it does not have to be stated out loudly, it can be demonstrated silently, such as with a gesture. Violation is punishable by court-martial.
Article 90
Assaults or willful disobedience of an order from a superior commissioned officer-
This article prohibits striking, threatening to strike, or any other sort of violence towards any officer, or willfully disobeying any lawful order from any officer. Violation is punishable by a court-martial. In a time of war, it is punishable by death.
Article 91
Insubordination towards a noncommissioned officer-
This article prohibits the striking of, any insubordinate behavior directed toward, or willful disobedience of any lawful order from a noncommissioned officer. Violation is punishable by a court-martial. The UCMJ places warrant officers and Navy petty officers in the category of noncommissioned officers.
Article 92
Failure to obey an order or regulation-
This article prohibits a servicemember from disobeying any general order or regulation. This includes regulations that are known to the servicemember, even if they have not been specifically stated. For example, it is against regulations to operate a POV (any privately owned vehicle, which includes your car) on base while under the influence of alcohol. Violation is punishable by court-martial.
Article 121
Larceny and Wrongful Appropriation-
This article prohibits a servicemember from wrongfully talking, obtaining, or withholding property from another. Violation is punishable by court-martial.
Article 128
Assault-
This article prohibits a servicemember from attempting or committing violence against another with intent to do bodily harm. Notice, one does not have to be successful to be in violation. Disobedience of this article is punishable by a court-martial,. Recruit Training is not like you’ve seen in Hollywood movies. keep your hands to yourself, except when training requires.
Article 134
General Article-
This article is commonly referred to as the “catch-all” article. It prohibits all conduct that is unbecoming of a United States Marine; all disorders and neglects that are prejudicial to the good order and discipline of the United States Armed Forces, or of nature to bring dishonor upon the Marine Corps. It is punishably by a court-martial.

Drugs will not be tolerated
