Delayering
Removing one or more ,evens if management from a tall structure to make it flatter.
Centralised
Control is kept with head office, every branch reports to them. *οΈβ£
Decentralised
Some control is delegated to branches. π
Matrix
Temporary project teams will be formed of mixed departments.
People in these will have two managers, their functional area manager & their project manager.
Entrepreneurial
One main decision maker, others have some say, but not voiced regularly.βΈοΈ
Functional grouping
Employees are split into departments by their skill and expertise.
Location grouping
When employees are split up by the location of their customers.
Product/service grouping
When employees are split up by the product or service they deal with.π’
I.e virgin
Technology grouping
Employees are split up by the technology or production processes used.
Customer grouping
When employees are split up by the type of customer they deal with.
E.g. online, trade or retail sales
Downsizing
This involves an organisation either closing an unprofitable division (like a location group)all together or merging two divisions together.
