Jargon
Specialised language for a certain field. Used to demonstrate authority, showing understanding of complex subject matter. Can be used to exclude and confuse.
Euphemism
Avoid sensitive or taboo topics. lessens impact of a statement that may be distressing. Used in public to meet social politeness. Can actually be used to discriminate
Doublespeak
Purposely ambiguous language, overly euphemistic or misleading, to obfuscate meaning or misdirect audience.
Rhetoric
used to convince. Subsystem patterning, rhetorical appeals to emotion logic & credibility, repetition, euphemism, connotative language
Non-discriminiatory language
unifying language not making distinctions, promoting inclusion, always changing
