U R What U Eat Flashcards
Identify materials required by multicellular organisms for the process of respiration
oxygen and glucose are required for the process of cellular respiration
Outline the role of respiration in providing energy for the activities of cells in all living organisms
glucose (from the digestive system) + oxygen(from the respiratory system) -> carbon dioxide(waste product exhale) + water( waste product exhale) + energy-ATP (USEFUL!!!)
Identify that different types of cells make up the tissues, organs and organ systems for
multicellular organisms
Cells that perform a similar function=tissue e.g muscle tissue
Tissues that perform a particular function = organe.g. heart
organs grouped together to carry out a specific job = system e.g. circulatory system
Digestive system
food travels down esophagus after being chewed in the mouth in which glucose is broken down by salivary glands. peristalsis occurs. the stomach does mechanical + chemical digestion as enzymes from pancreas and bile from the liver break down fat and nutrients in the stomach. The food then travels through the small intestine where the villi transport nutrients into the bloodstream.
