DYNAMIC verbs:
the verb describes an action rather than a state (action verb)
examples of DYNAMIC VERBS:
- run
- eat
- walk
- sleep
- read
- buy
STATIVE verbs:
the verb describes a state of being rather than an action, they are not actual physical actions.
(thoughts, mental processes, emotions, senses)
examples of STATIVE verbs:
- save
- love
- hate
- prefer
- know
- understand
- change
PROGRESSIVE verbs:
a vern that indicates continuing action, something going on now + with an ‘ing’ ending.
examples of all 3 PROGRESSIVE TENSES:
present progressive – I am eating a brownie right now.
past progressive – I was eating a brownie when you called.
future progressive - I will eat a brownie after tea.
MODAL verbs:
verbs that express possibility, permission or necessity.
examples of MODAL verbs:
may, might, will, could, ought to, shall, would, must, is

they are used along with a main verb to express tense, mood, or voice (helping verbs)
