Whats a “Ode?”
A kind of poem usually praising something addressed to someone or something.
Whats a “Haiku?”
Haiku is a form of poem which is written about nature or seasons. Haiku involves 3 lines. The first and last lines of a Haiku have 5 syllables and the middle line has 7 syllables. The lines rarely rhyme. Five again to end.
Whats a “Free Verse?”
Free Verse is a form of poetry which is often written without rhyme schemes. They do not follow the regular rhyme schemes but yet uses artistic expressions.
Whats a “Narrative?”
Narrative is a form of poetry which usually explains a story which includes; characters, plot, conflict, resolution, setting, and action.
Whats a “Acrostic?”
An Acrostic poem is a poem with certain letters in a line spell a word or a phrase. The first letter of each line are used to spell a message.
Whats a “Ballad”?
A ballad is a type of poem which is sometimes set to music. It goes by ABAB and A rhymes with A, and B rhymes with B.
Whats a “Sonnet”?
A poem of fourteen lines using any of a number of formal rhyme schemes, in English typically having ten syllables per line.
