Types Of Plate Boundaries Flashcards
• There are three kinds of plate boundaries:
• Divergent Boundary
• Convergent Boundary
• Transform Fault Boundary
• These are the areas where the tectonic plates meet.
Plate boundaries
= a space is left between the plates when two plates move apart.
• DIVERGENT BOUNDARY
• This space is usually filled with magma that comes from the asthenosphere.
• DIVERGENT BOUNDARY
= is the weak sphere or a soft layer of the mantle.
• Asthenosphere
= two plates
meet and collide. The two plates that meet may both continental plate and oceanic plate.
• CONVERGENT BOUNDARY
• Mountain ranges may be formed where two continental plates have collide.
• CONVERGENT BOUNDARY
= two plates slide slowly past each other.
TRANSFORM FAULT BOUNDARY
