COASTAL

A

rugged eroded cliffs.

Exposure to the power of large waves generated in the Southern Ocean has produced the rugged, eroded landforms that characterise much of the western coastline.

Some of the other factors that influence coastal vegetation are related to wind, salt and natural land instability.

Primary dunes are colonised by grasses and herbs, whilst salt marsh and mangroves.
