3
Q

Describe the procedural memory.

A

-knowing how to do things (motor skills)
>E.G riding a bike
-Non-declarative, doesn’t involve conscious recall
-LOCATION=cerebellum and motor cortex

4
Q

Describe the semantic memory.

A

-storing information about the world
>E.G meanings and facts
-not ‘time-stamped’
-Declarative requires conscious recall
-LOCATION=Temporal Lobe

5
Q

Describe the Episodic memory.

A

-storing information of events
>E.G the first day of school
-is ‘time-stamped’
-Declarative requires conscious recall
-LOCATION=Hippocampus

7
Q

Explain The evaluation of Neuroimaging.

A

-Neuroimaging evidence supports
-E.G ppt were asked to perform various memory tasks
-there brains were scanned with a PET scanner
-FOUND that the episodic memories are associated with hippocampus and procedural cerebellum and motor cortex
-supports BECAUSE the 3 different types of memory were found in different locations therefore indicating there separate.

8
Q

Explain The Evaluation of scientific methods.

A

-objective and empirical techniques such as brain scanners
- used to identify parts of the brain which are active when completing tasks
-E.G the cerebellum and motor cortex being active during a procedural task
-increases internal validity thus raises psychological scientific status

9
Q

Explain the Evaluation of the Case Study.

A

-Clive Wearing suffered from Amnesia in which his Episodic memory was damaged
-E.G he couldn’t remember events such as his musical education but could remember how to play the piano
-procedural memory
-Because if certain parts of long term memory are damaged this indicates that they are separate
