- face-to-face situation in which one person, the interview, asks a person being interviewed, the respondent, questions
INTERVIEW
their sequence and their wordings are fixed
• Structured
made up by a set of carefully prepared and logically ordered questions
interview schedule
flexible and open; wordings, content, etc.. are up to the interviewer;
makes use of interview guide- listing of topics that will be taken up during the interview
• Unstructured
formal interview; not allowed to change the specific wordings of the questions in the interview schedule.
• Standardized
freedom to develop each interview in the most appropriate manner for each situation.
• Non-standardized interview
ask a number of specific major questions, and beyond these he is free to probe as he chooses
• Semi-standardized interview
- also called as depth interview. The interview is focused on specific topics that are to be investigated in depth
• Focused interview
- subject is encouraged to express his feelings without fear of disapproval; the interviewee does most of the talking
• Non- directive interview
