What are demand characteristics?
A
- participants realise what the aim of the experiment is and then act unnaturally (either doing exactly what they think the experimenter wants or the opposite)

What are situational variables?
A
- Participants are affected by the environment they are in (noise) rather than the IV

What are participant variables?
A
- when the results of a study are more affected by participants individual characteristics (gender, age) rather than the IV

What are order Effects?
A
- When the results of a study are improved by the repetition of a task rather than the IV.
-If someone does the same task multiple times they will improve over time or get worse (fatigue effects)

What are experimenter/observer effects?
A
- When the participants complete an activity differently because they know someone is watching them.
