Types of Energy Flashcards
Electro Magnetic
Related to light. Energy in the form of a wave that can move independently of matter through a vacuum. Examples: Sunglight, radio waves, microwaves.
Electrical
The flow of electrons along a specific conductive path. Examples: Power lines, power cards, circuits.
Thermal
Related to heat. The random, microscopic movements and vibrations of molecules. Examples: basically all matter.
Sound
Energy in the form of a wave that is totally dependent on matter to form a medium of travel. Examples: music, earthquakes, voices. Sound can only travel on matter, that is why we can’t hear the sun.
Mechanical
The movement of macroscopic objects. Often involves wheels, gears, or machines. Examples: Bicycles, clocks, muscles. Related to motion
