Nonmetallic cable
Permitted inside walls, ceilings and floors. Printing tells you what’s inside (12/3 means there are 3, #12 wires plus a ground
Underground feed cable (UF)
Underground installations and in damp areas. Encases the wires in solid plastic
CAT 5E
Supplanting telephone wires. Suitable for telephones modems, and computers
Coaxial cable
Carried television signals. Coaxial cable is a type of copper cable specially built with a metal shield and other components engineered to block signal interference.
Armored cable
Has a flexible metal sheathing. One type is BX, or AC, which has no ground. The sheathing is used for grounding.
Metal clad(MC)
Armored cable, which has a green insulated grounding wire.
