Internalisation
A
deepest level of conformity, attitudes values and behaviours of group are owned and accepted by individual. A person will show conformity to a group because he or she genuinely agrees with their views
- shows group values on public AND private level
- permanent change
values maintained away from group

Identification
A
the individual adapts their behaviour and or opinions because they value membership of a particular group, when the individual leaves the group they are likely to revert back to their old behaviour/attitudes
- temporary change
- public and private views change whilst with (not physically) group
- EXAMPLE; Zimbardo prison experiment

Compliance
A
occurs when an individual wants to achieve a favourable reaction from the other group members, avoid disapproval
- change only PUBLIC views not private
- most superficial level
- Example: Asch participants, likely they complied
