Clay in liquid form

Slip clay
A flattened out piece of clay.
Slab
High-fire clay. Waterproof even without a glaze; resulting ware is sturdier than earthenware.
Stoneware
A term to describe unfired clay objects in general.
Greenware
Clay objects that have been fired the first time without any glaze applied to them.
Bisqueware
Bisqueware that has been glazed then fired.
Glazeware
A clay form made from a mold. May also be referred to “plaster castings”.
Casting
A term that usually refers to the bone china of England, but also referred to with vitreous white wares and porcelain.
China
Liquid clay used in the process of forming objects with mold. Also referred to as “slip”.
Casting Slip
A mixture of ceramic materials that is designed to soften and bend when the proper mixture of time and temperature is reached in the interior of the kiln.
Cone
A low-fire clay body which is fired to maturity at approx. 2000 degrees F.
Earthenware
A product that had been tested and determined safe for use on surface which come in contact with food or drink.
Food Safe
A brownish-orange earthenware ckay body commonly used for ceramic sculpture.
