Two-way ANOVAS L9 Flashcards
What is a factorial ANOVA and why is it used?
A factorial ANOVA has 2 IV’s with 2 or more levels of each IV (different groups)
Used as it’s less time consuming and decreased likelihood of TI error occurring
What is a two way repeated measures ANOVA?
Where there is 2 IV’s and 2 or more levels of each IV (same group)
How many F values are produced from a two way ANOVA and what are they?
3
F value for IV number 1
F value for IV number 2
F value for the interaction between the two IV’s
What are main effects in regards to two way ANOVAs?
These are the F values for the individual Independent variables
Each IV on the DV whilst the other is ignored
What does the 3rd F value found show?
It indicates whether the influence of one IV on the DV depends upon the levels of the other IV - termed an interaction effect
Worth noting that an interaction is not significant if the influence of one IV on the DV is constant across all levels of the other IV
