Hypothesis Testing And Probability L3 Flashcards

1
Q

In statistics what do we test?

A

We test whether the null hypothesis is true. Ideally the null will be rejected, signifying that there is a relationship/difference not due to chance. This occurs when p<0.05

Q

What is a problem with significance testing?

A

When you run a test there is a 5% chance that iis due to sampling error, running multiple tests increases likelihood of an error occurring.

It ranges from 0-1 and more participants yields more power.
