Tutorial 6 - definitive jaw registration Flashcards
What is the definitive jaw reg stage?
this is where there are wax in the saddle areas and you need to cut it back to acheiev the maximum ICP again. seal with zinc oxide eugenol or soft wax or hydrobite
soft wax is bad as can only do it once and if you get it wrong you cant redo, zinc oxide is not nice as its very messy and can break under undercuts.
After we compleAfter we complete this, what shall we put in the lab instructions?
“Please articulate casts using the jaw registration record provided, then set up teeth in wax, shade …, mould … for a try in”
What else shall we record during this stage?
TOOTH MOULD and SHAPE.
therefore, lab instructions are: “Please articulate casts using the jaw registration record provided, then set up teeth in wax, shade …, mould … for a try in”
What are the differences between what we will be sent for a cobalt chrome and acyrlic denture in this stage?
If you are making an acrylic denture you will carry out this stage using a wax baseplate and occlusal rims.
If you are making a cobalt chromium denture you will have your metal framework with wax occlusal rims attached
Why do we do this stage?
To enable the secondary casts to be articulated, prior to setting up the denture teeth
What comes after this stage?
trial insertion
