What are the steps to carry out FS?

A
  1. Ensure all equipment prepared
  2. Explain to child and parent - why using FS and what will be done
  3. Seat child - not too flat
  4. Ensure PPE child - glasses and bib
  5. Moisture control - salivary ejector at all time
  6. Etch 15sec
  7. Wash and replace cotton wool roll
  8. Add FS w/ brush (use flat plastic or probe as well)
  9. Cure sealant
  10. Check for deficiencies
    11, Add toothpaste to avoid taste
  11. Sit pt - they can rinse
  12. Don’t need to check occlusion

What are the options for FS?

A

Helioseal - opaque

Heliobond - clear (easy to check under restorations for deficiencies)

What to do it struggling with moisture control during FS?

A

Revise technique

Apply light cured GIC sealant (fuji triage)

How to carry out disclosing on clinic?

A
  1. Get everything out
  2. Explain procedure
  3. Bib, glasses and vaseline on lips
  4. Take instrument tray, toothbrush and pt to OHI sink
  5. Apply disclosing solution to teeth
  6. Pt rinse and spit
  7. Check w/ pt and parent where stained plaque is present
  8. Check and advise pt brushing technique
  9. Clean sink

When is duraphat topical F unsuitable?

A

Unstable asthmatics - regular hospital visits, nebulised etc.
