A

A: -cushings= excess cortisol

  • vitamin D deficiency
  • hypothyroidism
  • osteochondrodysplasia (bone abnormality)

A

A: -stress eg vigorous exercise

Q: Describe 2 tests for GH stimulation.

A

A: in hospital:

  • make their blood sugar drop= causes ‘stress’ in body
  • check GH levels

insulin tolerance test:

  • measure blood GH before and after giving insulin
  • GH levels should rise at least to 20mU/L or more
  • if less= issues with GH
