What is a turbine?
A
Devices that drive an electric generator:
Fluid passes through the turbine, to produce work on the attached shaft

What is a compressor?
A
Similar to pumps and fans, are devices used to increase the pressure of a fluid:
Work is supplied to external source through a rotating shaft.

How is a fans different to a compressor?
A
Increases the pressure of a gas slightly and is mainly used to mobilise a gas.

How is a compressor different to a pumps?
A
Pumps only work for liquids.
