What causes TB
Mycobacterium tuberculosis
Who gets it
Anyone and immunocompromises people are at risk
And smokes and other lung issues
What are the symptoms and pathophys
Inhaled via respiratory droplets then multiplication and infection of individual macrophages and then expansion in innate granulosas then granulosa maturation lastly granulosa necrosis with extra cellular replication
How do we identify/diagnose it
Add tuberculin under the skin- if seen before the localized response wil be 48-72 hrs later
How do we treat/cure it
Sometime can be cleared by the immune system
-most treated with long course antibiotic drugs (6-9 months)
Can we prevent it?
By keeping proper hygiene
Less fecal-oral

- people stayed in sanitariums for months until their body got rid or the bacteria
- they would add to the pleural cavity then fill it with nitrogen to hold the pressure on the collapsed ling
- Currently 2 billion people have TB
