STERNOCLEIDOMASTOID
O - Clavicle and manubrium I - mastoid process N - Cranial nerve 11 and C2 and C3 A - Unilateral = side flex to same & rotation to opposite Bilateral = neck flexion
SPLENIUS CAPITIS
O - Ligamentum nuchae (C7 -T4 spinous process)
I - Mastoid process & occipital bone
N - C4-C8
A - Unilateral = side flexion & rotation to same side
Bilateral = Neck extension
SPLENIUS CERVICUS
O - Spinous process T3 - T6 I - Transverse process C1 - C3 N - C4-C8 A - Unilateral = side flexion & rotation to same side Bilateral = neck extension
RECTUS ABDOMINUS
O - Crest of pubis
I - Cartilage of 5th -7th ribs & zyphoid process
N - Intercostal nerve T7 -T12
A - Trunk flexion
EXTERNAL OBLIQUE
O - Lower 8 ribs
I - Anterior 1/2 ilium, inguinal ligament, crest of pubis
N - Intercostal T8 -T12, iliohypogastric, ilioinguinal
A - Unilateral = ipsilateral side bending & rotation opp. side
Bilateral = Trunk flexion
INTERNAL OBLIQUE
O - Inguinal ligament, anterior 2/3 ilium, lumbar fascia
I - Costal cartilage of 8 - 10 & linea alba
N - Intercostal T8 - T12, iliohypogastric and ilioinguinal
A - Unilateral = side flexion same side & rotation same side
Bilateral = Trunk flexion
TRANSVERSE ABDOMINUS
O - Inguinal ligament, iliac crest, cartilage of lower 6 ribs, and lumbar fascia
I - Crest of pubis and linea alba
N - Intercostal T8 -T12, iliohypogastric and ilioinguinal
A - Pulls umbilicus towards spine
QUADRATUS LUMBORUM
O - Posterior iliac crest I - 12th rib, transverse process L1 - L4 N - T12 - L1 A - Unilateral = same side flexion Bilateral = Stabilize spine
