- China, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Japan, Indonesia
- Occurs within 5 degrees and 30 degrees North and South of the equator

- Intense amounts of rain
- Intense amounts of convection caused by hot land surface
- E.g. Mumbai on the west coast of India has annual mean rainfall of 181mm, the majority falling between June - September
- Temperatures range from 30 degrees in summer to 19 degrees in winter

- Many farmers depend on seasonal occurrence of the monsoon climate - rice is grown most effectively in the monsoon seasons
