What did the people do (in Feb)?

A

Feb 14- Demonstration in support of Duma
Feb 18- Strike at Putilov Steelworks
Feb 23- Women’s international day women joined the strikes in anti-government demonstrations this grows larger when the announce possibility of bread rationing
Late Feb- Weather became unusually warm encouraging protests
Feb 23 to 25- 250000 people demonstrated in Petrograd(crowds became too big to control)

What did the army do?

A

Feb 26- Soldiers ordered to fire on the demonstrators(40 killed)
Later Feb 26-Soldiers became unhappy with orders.
Feb 27- Some regiments refused orders to shoot civilians
Feb 28- A military report to the Tsar declared that the military was out of control
