Needling procedure and Tx methods?

A

Once the trp is found assess which meridian it’s in proximity to and start needling with one of 2 points that removes obstruction from the channel such as source and crossing points. Or activate qi and blood flow such as Luo or xicleft points.after these needles have been retained for 2-3 min proceed with needling the trp.
For trp only retain for 30 sec and Move on to next.
For a group of trps , EA can be used in local area for 2-3 minutes at a low frequency of 5-8 hz with medium to low amplitude just so the muscle twitches slightly.
Focus On one body area at a time.
If a tcm assessment is done and a particular weakness discovered, the Tx should include some constitutional points to tonify.for Ki deficiency use mother point kidney 7 for 3-5 min with a du or ren point.
Extra vessels can be used also.for posterior pain, open du

Q

What are trigger points?and how do u find them?

A

They are very small areas of a muscle that have shortened and wound themselves up in a knot.
Found through palpation, they are located in a taut band of muscle fibre and when plucked with the fingers using cross fibre stimulation it can produce a local twitch response, as well reproduce the pain radiation pattern reported by the patient.
