Signs of Tricuspic Regurgitation

A

 Prominent V waves in JVP
 Distended JVP if right ventricular failure present (usually would be)
 Right ventricular heave
 Pan systolic murmur at base:
increased by inspiration
decreased by valsalva manoeuvre
 Pulsatile liver
 Peripheral oedema and ascites

Causes of Tricuspic Regurgitation

A

Functional Secondary to dilatation right heart

  • LHF, MS, MR, primary lung disease, eisenmenger syndrome, hyperthyroid, PS

Primary Triscuspic Pathology

  • Iatrogenic trauma (cath), IE, Ebstein congenital abnormality, Carcinoid, Myxomatous degeneration, SLE, RA
