Q

How is diagnosis of Trichuris suis made?

Why are eggs seen only in animals 10 weeks or older?

A
  • FEC - typical whip egg (bipolar plugs)
  • Since PPP is 6-10 weeks, eggs mainly seen in pigs older than 10 weeks.
  • A negative FEC therefore, does not rule-out infection
