Layers of the hair?
(inner to outer) medulla, cortex, cuticle
Describe the hair growth cycle (anagen, catagen, and telogen)
Anagen: Hair grows, and is attached to the dermal papilla (nerve and blood supply, gives nutrients)
Catagen: Hair becomes detached from dermal papilla
Telogen: Hair begins to fall out
Vellus hair? (types of hair)
Short, fine, downy. Found in places that are normally
considered hairless, like the forehead- except the palms of the hands and soles of the feet
Terminal hair? (types of hair)
Long and soft. Legs, scalp, arms, body
Lanugo hair? (types of hair)
Grows on fetuses
3 methods of highlighting?
Foil, balayage, cap
