Triangles Flashcards
Isosceles triangle
Two sides are the same length and the angles facing those sides are equal
Right triangles
Contain a 90 degree angle, sides forming this angle are the legs. Side facing this angle is hypotenuse. Pythagorean theorem relates the side lengths.
3:4:5 right triangle
Side lengths in ratio of 3:4:5.
5:12:13 triangles
Sides are in ratio 5:12:13
45•-45•-90• right triangles (isosceles right triangles)
Side lengths in ratio 1:1:sqrt 2. Legs have same length. Formed when square is divided in half by one of its diagonals.
30•-60•-90• right triangles
Side length ratio of 1:sqrt3:2. Shortest side is opposite the 30• angle. Formed when equilateral triangle is divided in half.
Equilateral triangle
All interior angles are 60 degrees, all sides are same length
