Main problems with NASCIS trials
A
No difference in primary outcomes between the groups, however subgroup analysis suggested benefit, and this was included in the conclusions. Eg methylpred administration within 8hrs of injury. Likely a type 1 error.
Authors also had conflict of interest with drug company sponsoring trial.
NASCIS 1 = dose of methylpred
NASCIS 2 = patients to receive treatment within 12hrs of injury
NASCIS 3 = continuous MP for 24 or 48hrs
