Describe the climate of Trentino
A
- Warm Continental with cooling influence
- Northern Italy in sight of the Alps
- Higher daytime temps than expected this far North/high altitude because mountains protect from cold winds.
- High diurnal range because of air descending from mountains at night

What are the soils of Tretino? And what is the impact?
A
- Generally stony, and well drained
- Poorer in nutrients on steeper slopes
- Slow, steady growth resulting in high flavour intensity.

A
- Above the valley floor on slopes between 400-700m, with a few higher.

Describe the harvest
A
- Mostly by hand as working on slopes
- 2 weeks later than Franciacorta due to elevation increasing time required to ripen
- Normally starts early September, determined by acidity.

A
Yes, as acidity is typically higher here than Franciacorta.

- 15 months, but common practice is longer
- Vintage - 24 months
- Riserva - 36 months (but commly 5-10 years)
