  • The building of cities and towns destroys the natural habitats of many animals(eg draining a wetland to construct a city over it)
  • the government and other large corporations may build in those places to expand and make more money off of that area

  • urban sprawl refers to the spreading of urban developments ( such as houses or shopping centres) on undeveloped land near a city
  • in short, it means that cities are expanding quickly to cover a larger area
  • the government or large corporations could want to take and use or sell the land to expand and make more money
