Definition of tremor
A
Involuntary rhythmic movement of 1 or more body parts.
Simulated by alternating contractions of reciprocal muscles

Resting tremor

A
Disappears on movement, appears rest
Is exaggerated by contralateral movement.
Examples:
- Pill rolling tremor in Parkinson’s disease.
- Drug induced: Haloperidol, other antipsychotics (DA blocking)

Postural tremor
A
Tremor that occurs during sustained muscle contraction but disappears at rest.
Present in outstretched limb or maintained postured against gravity
Example
- Benign essential tremor

A
Tremor that is exaggerated by movement.
Includes: postural, kinetic, isometric and task-specific
Examples
- Intentional tremor
