Also known as phylum. Taxonomic group below the kingdom level but above the class level
Division
A taxonomic group of organisms composed of individuals of the same genus that can reproduce amoung themselves and have similar offspring

A sawtooth margin of a leaf with the teeth pointed forward
Serrate
Plant with seeds borne in an ovary. Consists of large groups: monocotyldons (grasses, palms) and dicotyledons (trees, shrubs)
Angiosperm
A type of compound leaf with veins or leaflets radiating in a fanlike pattern
Palmate
A plant with an embryo that has one seed leaf. Grasses and palms
Monocotyledon
The tip of the leaf blade
Leaf apex
A group of plants within a species having distinct variations that occur sporadically and naturally
Forma
The classification name that follows the genus name in scientific nomenclature
Specific epithet
A cultivated variety of plant. Cannot be reproduced without human assistance. Usually propagated
