How did Britain (Lloyd-George) want to establish peace through the ToV?
They wanted to make Germany pay for damage and Lloyd George was there to represent the anger of British people. In private he wanted to avoid harshness with Germany as it need trade with it in future and he was afraid Germany would seek revenge.
How did France (Clemenceau) want to establish peace through the ToV?
They wanted to punish Germany harshly for the huge damage done to France and loss of life. Also weaken Germany enough so they were unable to have another war (revenge).
How did the USA (President Wilson) want to establish peace through the ToV?
They wanted a lenient treaty which would help keep the peace by ending empires and create the League of Nations.
(Nobody got want they wanted in the end it was a compromise)

It meant Germany had to give back:
- Alsace Lorraine to France
- Eupen and Malmedy to Belgium
- Posen and the Polish Corridor to Poland
- Saar coalfields controlled by the League for 15 years.
What was the result of the Territorial Changes term for Germany?
Germany ended up losing 10% of land and people.
What was meant by the Military Restrictions term in the ToV?
- Army limited to 100,000 men.
- No conscription.
- No Air Force or Submarines allowed.
- Only allowed 6 battleships.
- Rhineland demilitarised. (No troops on border area of France and Belgium)
What was meant by the War Guilt term in the ToV?
Forced Germany to accept blame for stating the war.
What was meant by the Reparations term in the ToV?
Germany had to pay compensation to victorious countries (for damage and loss of life) set at £6,600 million in 1921 reduced in1929 stopped paying in 1930s.
