Erythromycin
How do you treat non-severe community acquired pneumonia?
amoxicillin or doxycycline (if penicillin allergic)
How do you treat severe community acquired pneumonia?
IV co-amoxiclav + doxycycline – if penicillin allergy then give only IV levofloxacin
How do you treat non-severe hospital acquired pneumonia?
Oral amoxicillin or doxycycline (if penicillin allergic)
How do you treat severe hospital acquired pneumonia?
IV amoxicillin and gentamicin (if penicillin allergic = co-trimoxazole + gentamicin)
How do you treat non-severe aspiration pneumonia?
Oral amoxicillin + metronidazole (if penicillin allergy then give doxycycline + metronidazole)
How do you treat severe aspiration pneumonia?
IV amoxicillin + metronidazole + gentamicin (if penicillin allergy then replace amoxicillin with PO Doxycycline or IV Clarithromycin)
