Meningitis emergency treatment?
Adult/ >10 years old
1-9 years old
<1 year old
IM/IV Benzylpenicillin
1.2g for Adults
600mg for 1-9 year olds
300mg for <1 year olds
Shingles antivirals?
Acyclovir within 72 hours of onset.
1st Line CCF drugs?
ACEI
B-Blocker (Bisoprolol, carvediolol, nebivolol)
2nd Line CCF drugs?
Aldosterone antagonists (Spironolacton/eplerenone)
Breakthrough Morphine in Palliative care?
1/6th of total daily morphine dose
Starting dose for Morphine in Palliative care?
10-15mg MST BD + 5mg oral morphine PRN
Conversion Codeine to Morphine
Divide by 10
Conversion Tramadol to Morphine
Divide by 10
Conversion Morphine to Oxycodone
Divide by 1.5-2
Conversion Oral Morphine to Subcutaenous Morphine
Divide by 2
Conversion Oral Morphine to Subcutaneous Diamorphine
Divide by 3

Acute migraine management?
Simple analgesia - Ibuprofen 400mg, Aspiring 900mg, Paracetamol 1g
Triptan - Oral Sumatriptan 50-100mg
Antiemetics - Metoclopramide etc
Migraine prophylaxis?
Topiramate/Propanolol/Amitriptyline
Avoid Topiramate in childbearing age
CBT/Acupuncture/Riboflavin
Treatment of Temporal Arteritis?
Without eye symptoms - Pred 40-60mg + Admit within 3 days
With eye symptoms - Pred 60-100mg + Admit urgently
Ongoing Management post CVE?
Aspirin 300mg OD for 2 weeks
Clopidogrel 75mg OD Longterm (consider PPI)
Aspirin + Dipyridamole 200mg BD if can’t have clopidogrel
Dipyridamole alone if can’t have aspirin
Post CVE secondary prevention?
Atorvastatin 80mg ON
Treat HTN, target <130/
No driving for 4 weeks
TIA in the last week - management?
Aspirin 300mg
See stroke specialist within 24 hours
*admit if bleeding disorder or crescendo TIA
