Hepatitis A (HAV) Recommended Treatment

Hepatitis B (HBV) Recommended Treatment
No medication available. Best addressed through supportive treatment.
Hepatitis C (HCV) Recommended Treatment
Acute: Antivirals and supportive treatment
Chronic: Regular monitoring for signs of liver disease progression; some patients are treated with antiviral drugs
Latent Tuberculosis Recommended Treatment
Isoniazid (INH) is the medicine usually taken for the treatment of Latent TB
Tuberculosis - Active Disease Recommended Treatment
Must be treated with several drugs for 6 to 12 months
Chlamydia - Recommended Treatment for Adolescents and Adults (No complications)
Azithromycin 1g orally in a single dose
OR
doxycycline 100 mg orally 2 times a day for 7 days
Chlamydia - Recommended Treatment during Pregnancy
Azithromycin 1 g orally in a single dose
OR
Amoxicillin 500 mg orally 3 times a day for 7 days
Chlamydia Recommended Treatment - with HIV infection
Same Treatment as those who are HIV negative
Gonorrhea Recommended Treatment - Uncomplicated infections of the Cervix, Urethra & Rectum
Ceftriaxone 250 mg IM in a single dose
OR, IF NOT AN OPTION
Cefixime 400 mg orally in a single dose
OR single dose injectible cephalosporin regimens PLUS azithromycin 1 g orally in a signe dose
OR doxycycline 100 mg twice daily for 7 days
Gonorrhea Recommended Treatment - Uncomplicated Infections of the Pharynx
Ceftriaxone 250 mg IM in a single dose PLUS Azithromycin 1 g orally in a single dose
OR
Doxycycline 100 mg twice daily for 7 days
Gonorrhea Recommended Treatment - During pregnancy
Pregnant women who have gonococcal infection should be treated with recommended or alternative ephalosporin.
Because spectinomycin is not available in the US, azithromycin 2 g orally can be considered for women who cannot tolerate cephalosporin.
Either amoxicillin or azithromycin is recommended for treatment of presumptive or diagnosed chlamydia.
Gonorrhea Recommended Treatment - with HIV infection
