- The vein should appear running across and down to the clavicle

- Locate thyroid cartilage (above and below
- Site is between 2 cartilages

- Surgical emphysema from advancing needle too far
- Failure
- Blocked cannula

- 2ml air into a 10 ml syringe
- Insert at a 45° angle towards the feet

- High flow O2 should me on
- Aseptic
- Attach 10ml syringe
- 2nd int cost space, mid clav
- Insert over the top of 3rd rib
- Insert (with port open)
