Trauma History Flashcards
In a medical history, what may influence trauma treatment and why?
What intra oral features should one look for in a trauma case?
Also foreign bodies, such as penetrating wounds
What may tooth mobility indicate?
Displacement of tooth, root or bone fracture
What detailed tests may be done for an intra oral examination?
Sensibility testing, percussion testing, check occlusion, take radiographs
To classify the trauma
Compare all with adjacent and opposing teeth as these must have received direct or indirect trauma too
What is concussion
What is subluxation
Concussion - ttp but no mobility
Subluxation = ttp and slight mobility
What is extrusion
What is intrusion
Extrusion= displacement out of the socket
Intrusion = displacement through the labial bone plate
What is lateral luxation
What is avulsion
LL = displacement any direction other than axially
Avulsion = tooth fully displaced from socket
