Q

Using Examples. What is the problem of ongoing construction of transport infrastructure?

A

Evidence shows that ongoing construction of transport infrastructure in itself causes social issues.

For example, Maadi itself express pride in the abundance of greenery and the pleasant community feeling, as well as the presence of beautiful buildings such as villas.

The Ministry of Transportation announced on 6 June 2021 the new project, named ‘Al Gazaer Axis’ (Algeria Axis), along with two other new projects to be implemented to tackle traffic congestion.

A number of Maadi residents have argued that the areas which will be affected by the new project are protected and registered landmarks of Maadi, and therefore the project is unlawful.

A

The monorail is designed to reduce the number of vehicles in streets and replace them with electrified public transit trains. Q

What is the problem with monorail?

(evaluation)

A

Transport officials were blunt about the monorail plans serving as a transit route connecting 6th of October City with the NAC via Line 3, meaning that the metro will now not only serve the residents of Cairo but also carry the mass of commuters travelling from 6th of October City to the NAC, adding burden to the already crowded metro system.

A

In August 2018, several national transport‐related projects were put in place and implemented rapidly. Almost all of these projects were introduced suddenly, without any prior public information or engagement with the inhabitants.
